Colorado Ophthalmology Associates is the oldest group Ophthalmology practice in the Denver area. Duane Lahey, MD founded the practice in 1960 and expanded to include Roland Thompson, MD and John Humphreys, MD in 1961. Innovative and forward thinking, these doctors were among the first to bring corneal transplant surgery and intraocular lenses for cataract surgery to Colorado.

Today, Colorado Ophthalmology remains one of the dynamic, busiest, and most respected groups in the region. Robert Keyser, MD joined the practice in 1976, followed by James Patterson, MD in 1985, J. Timothy Ammons, MD in 1993, and James Melzer, OD in 1999. Together we carry on the tradition of bringing the latest technical innovations and surgical techniques to our patients.

At Colorado Ophthalmology, we specialize in state of the art cataract surgery, including Tecnis Multifocal, ReSTOR®, and Toric lens implants, medical and surgical glaucoma care, LASIK and refractive surgery to correct distance and near vision, and corneal disease. Dedicated to providing comprehensive care to meet all the vision needs of our patients, we also provide regular eye exams for adults and children and have full service optical shops and contact lens departments in both of our office locations. Over the years we have developed a dedicated, caring and knowledgeable staff committed to helping care for our patients.
